X-Wing at FSE

This weekend saw my son’s and my first appearance at a X-Wing store championship. We had a couple of relaxed games and made places 8 and 9 in a field of 15 competitors. All got a prize, our’s were a few upgrade cards and a laser cut fibre fire range stick. Quite respectable for a first time.

TIE/fo

Rebasing the Great Northern War

Probabely every wargamer knows these moments when he needs to decide how to base his wargames models. Basing mostly depends on the rules you use. With the more common rules like DBX or FOG this has standardised on 40mm width by 15 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 60 / 80 mm depth. When playing games set in the 1700 to 1820 horse & musket era you find a much greater diversity of wargames rules and thus also basing standards.

Commands and Colors: 1808 Rolica 1st French Position

Lately we had a go via VASSAL at the 1st scenario, Rolica 1808 (French 1st position). I took the British side, my brother the opposing French. Here is the documentation on how the battle evolved.

   

Turn 1 and 2 we see the deployment of forces, some preparatory gun fire, and the first British advance towards Rolica. The French reposition their brigades to cover the town.
