Commands and Colors: 1808 Rolica 1st French Position

Lately we had a go via VASSAL at the 1st scenario, Rolica 1808 (French 1st position). I took the British side, my brother the opposing French. Here is the documentation on how the battle evolved.

   

Turn 1 and 2 we see the deployment of forces, some preparatory gun fire, and the first British advance towards Rolica. The French reposition their brigades to cover the town.

HEARTS OF IRON III

This computer game is a conflict simulation of the 1930th with tremendous depth. The entire world is covered from 1936 to 1950. The major powers are competing for world conquest of one of three antagonistic blocks, the Allies, the Axis, and the Comintern. Each Block has a specific list of victory conditions that need to be met.

New Work Place

Yesterday after more than one year of abstaining from painting figures I now reinstalled my work place. I am very happy to have restartet paintig. I find it very satisfying sometimes it is like meditating for me.

One of the tasks I tackle is to finish painting figures that have awaited final touch for a year or longer. First in line are US cavalry and a ACW gun.

Under the star-spangled banner

I just finished the autobiographical book “Unter dem Sternenbanner” by Carl Schurz, his memoirs of the years 1852 to 1869. For those interested in history it offers some insights into the Americal political system of those years. What struck me most was his account of the founding of the Republican party in 1854 from the abolitionalist movement. He joined the movement and the party to become one of her leading propagandists.

Grenadier 2016

This year November saw my first participating in the German ASL tournament. I met a lot of friendly gamers from all over Europe, got to play as much as 8 face to face games, and learned a few more tricks on how to use these complex rules in specific situations. All together I found it a stimulating experience that I definitely want to renew next year at Grenadier 2017. I can highly recommend this event. Thank you to Michael for his excellent organisation.
